I agree with Lewiston Mayor Robert Macdonald about general assistance for asylum seekers (Sun Journal, Jan. 31). In the article, Macdonald stated that those people are victimizing the people of Lewiston by making residents support them.
As a taxpayer, I agree with him.
In response to Ted LaCrone of Winthrop (letter, Feb. 1), I would ask him why he lives in Winthrop? He should try living in Lewiston and see how much it costs to live here, with its high taxes (including a rain tax) and more school construction that costs millions of dollars.
The asylum seekers should move to Winthrop. Then LaCrone might understand.
