FARMINGTON — Echo and Maggie are the Pets of the Week at the Franklin County Animal Shelter.

Dog of the Week Bookie is a 2-year-old DNA tested American Staffordshire terrier and Dalmatian mix who loves riding cars, walking on trails, running after balls and playing in water. Bookie warms up to people quickly and doesn’t seem bothered by other dogs. Treat motivated, he is a people pleaser and looks forward to learning new things. Bookie is strong, but daily exercise will mellow him out. 

Abigail, the Cat of the Week, either loves or doesn’t, and knows as soon as she meets someone. The nine-month-old cat doesn’t care for dogs, and she tolerates other cats as long as they are not in her space. 

Bookie, Abigail and other pets may be visited at the shelter from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays at 550 Industry Road. Cats and dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption and have been vaccinated for rabies, treated for fleas, microchipped and have had nail trims. The shelter also rehomes barn cats, livestock and other pets.
