POLAND – Matt Brewster came on in relief in the eight inning and contributed to his own mound victory with a game-clinching one-run single as Poland dropped Fryeburg 9-8 in WMC baseball action Friday.
Dylan Anderson gave the Raiders (4-3) their first lead of the game with a three-run blast in the fifth inning to make it 8-6. But, the Knights (4-4) drew things even again in the sixth.
Senior Nick Douglass led off the eighth inning with a walk, stole second and scored on Brewster’s single for the walk off win.
Fryeburg starting pitcher Evan Humphrey had three hits to his credit, but gave way to relief in the seventh inning for a no-decision.
Dirigo 11, Telstar 2
BETHEL – Eric Bolduc pushed the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run across the plate with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning as Dirigo grabbed an 11-2 victory over Telstar in MVC baseball action Friday.
The Rebels (2-3) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and held on until giving up a pair in the third.
Telstar pitcher James Kimball unraveled in the fourth inning as the Cougars (5-2) rallied for four runs.
Dirigo capped off the scoring with a five-run seventh, and Josh Palmer roped a double in the winning effort.
Livermore Falls 11, Georges Valley 1
LIVERMORE FALLS – Caleb Baron executed three hits, including a home run, as Livermore Falls cruised to an 11-1 victory over Georges Valley in MVC baseball action Friday.
The Andies (6-1) were all about offense as they scored in every inning.
Baron’s home run came in the third, and was a two-run shot to put Livermore Falls up 7-0.
Bryant Matthews had two of the Buccaneers (3-2) four hits, both doubles.
Livermore Falls pitcher Willie Brown improved his personal record to 3-0 with nine strikeouts in the five-inning contest.
Leavitt 7, Morse 4
BATH – Steven Rouillard initiated the Hornet’s offense with a two-run double in the first inning as Leavitt rolled to a 7-4 victory over Morse in baseball action Friday.
Isaiah Wright broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run single in the fourth inning for the Hornets (2-5), and Drake McBreairty added to the cushion with a two-run single in the top of the seventh for a 7-3 lead.
Shawn Berry earned the mound win for Leavitt, while Jermore Walton took the loss for the Shipbuilders (0-7).
Mountain Valley 11, Jay 1
RUMFORD – Gino Salgado belted a home run and Matt Laubauskas and Alex Gagnon combined to throw a two-hitter to lead Mountain Valley to an 11-1 win over Jay in MVC baseball action Friday.
Justin Staires added a triple for the Falcons (6-0), while Cam Kaubris smacked a double. Kaubris was also the game’s only repeat hitter.
Catcher Jared Ouellette doubled for the Tigers (1-6), who scored their lone run in the fourth inning.
St. Dom’s 18, Waynflete 4
PORTLAND – Greg LaBonte had four hits and knocked in seven runs as St. Dom’s trounced Waynflete 18-4 in WMC action on Friday.
The Saints (5-0) scored four runs in each of the first two innings and never looked back.
Aaron Allen earned the win and hit two singles while Alex Parker crushed a pair of doubles.
Ryan Gorskey led the Flyers (2-3) with a pair of hits including a double.
EL 2, Mt. Ararat 0
TOPSHAM – Cody Goddard belted a pair of RBI doubles, allowing Devin Flynn to score twice, as Edward Little shook off Mt. Ararat with a 2-0 victory in a baseball game Friday.
Matt Gordon threw the two-hitter after he was relieved in the seventh by Goddard.
The Red Eddies (6-1) used eight hits to dispatch the Eagles (2-4). Kenzie Souders also had two hits for EL.
Hebron 11, Kents Hill 1
AUBURN – Alex Siwila-Sackman and Ian Canty had three hits each as Hebron exploded in the fifth inning to grab an 11-1 victory over Kents Hill in baseball action Friday.
Up 2-1 going into the bottom of the fifth ining, the Lumberjacks scored an impressive nine runs to seal the early win. Canty went the distance on the mound, striking out seven batters and allowing only one hit.
Tom Ferri took the mound loss for Kents Hill.
Lacrosse
Mountain Valley 14, Camden Hills 5
RUMFORD – Matt Mowatt tallied three goals and two assists to lead Mountain Valley to its first win of the season in a 14-5 rout over Camden Hills on Friday.
Austin Horne also registered three goals for the Falcons (1-5) while Anthony Rocray and Kenny Armstrong added two apiece. Netminder Levi Rajaniemi turned away seven shots in the win.
Will Orne scored a pair of goals for the Windjammers (0-6).
