AUBURN – Amanda Mayette of Readfield, a senior at St. Dominic Regional High School, has been selected to receive the 2008 Principal’s Award, Principal Donald Fournier has announced.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
“Amanda has shown her leadership and excellence in all facets of her life. Academically, Amanda is taking a rigorous program of studies and is currently the top-ranked student of her college-bound class. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a strong member of the math team, field hockey team and music ministry.
“She received the Harvard Book Award, Rensselaer Medal, and was a commended student for the PSAT/NMSQT,” Fournier sand, and “she very much deserves this recognition.”
Mayette and Fournier will attend an honors luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 5.
The students receive individual plaques, and five $1,000 scholarships are given in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler, former Maine principals and executive directors of the association.
