PARIS – Tours of the Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Mass., and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston will be offered by the McLaughlin Foundation Garden and Horticultural Center from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8. The group will leave from the center at 97 Main St., South Paris. An $85 fee will cover transportation, tours and a boxed lunch. Space is limited. Preregister by calling 743-8820.

Candidates night

BROWNFIELD – The Brownfield Republican Town Committee will host the monthly Oxford Republican County Committee Meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Community Church on West Main Street, Route 160. Attending will be candidates for the new 14-town Senate District 13 seat: Paul Waterhouse, David Hastings III and Caldie Jackson. Rep. Kevin Muse will moderate a discussion in which candidates will be asked about a variety of issues, including the establishment of a casino in Maine and health care legislation proposed by Gov. John Baldacci. All Brownfield Republicans and other taxpayers are being invited to attend. A dinner will be offered of meatloaf, potatoes, vegetables and brownies with ice cream for $6.50. Crackers, cheese and punch will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Space is limited, reservations are requested by calling 935-4655.
