LISBON – Police took a 6-foot plastic alligator into custody late Tuesday night after “snagging” it from a small pond near the new Lisbon Community School on Mill Street.

Sgt. Harry Moore said Officer Rene Bernard distracted the reptile, while he “used a 15-pound test line and hooked it.” It didn’t put up much of a fight, he added.

The green inflatable alligator was apparently put into the pond as a prank.

The pond is surrounded by a chain-link fence.

The new grade school is set to open Wednesday.
