WILTON — Wilton Police charged a juvenile with the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after a truck was taken Sunday and then recovered.
The juvenile admitted to taking the truck on Depot Street and was given the summons charge by Wilton Officer Nathan Reid. The vehicle was reported stolen at 9:50 p.m. Reid responded to the residence and learned that the keys had been left in the vehicle.
While he was there, “the victim saw what appeared to be his missing truck pulled over on the side of the road next to the Forster building,” police said. He checked on the vehicle but no one was around it. He then requested a canine unit for tracking.
While driving to the scene to assist Reid, Detective Richard Billian noticed a juvenile walking near the area where the vehicle was recovered. He stopped him and talked with him while Franklin County Sheriff Deputy David Rackliffe’s K9, Odin, arrived and assisted in the investigation.
