The Tri-Town Fourth of July Parade returns after not taking place last year. Crowds lined Main St in Jay and Livermore Falls as the parade passed by. There were parade entry winners for most creative, Mario characters, and most patriotic, military truck, as well as judges choice, Red Hats float.

The glow of flames and smoke is seen late Tuesday night coming from a multi-story apartment building in Jay, according to a post by Central Fire Alert Facebook. The location was given as the corner of Main and Elm streets, and surrounding buildings were being evacuated, according to the Maine Police Fire EMS Sheriff Scanner Radio. The information could not be confirmed by Jay fire and police officials.

A pile of charred debris and two vehicles lie Wednesday after a fire of undetermined origin leveled a three-story, six-unit apartment building late Tuesday night at 6 Jewell St. in Jay. All of the estimated 10 tenants escaped unharmed, along with some pets, Fire Rescue Chief Mike Booker said. The cause is being investigated.
