KINGFIELD — Twenty-four envelopes containing identical public court and arrest records of a Kingfield man were delivered to the Town Office on Tuesday.

The information detailed a 2007 Franklin County grand jury indictment and two 2018 arrests.

It is unknown who sent the letters, or why.

They were sent to current, former and even deceased selectmen, and members of the Planning Board, Appeals Board and Village Enhancement Committee, Administrative Assistant Leanna Targett said.

“It’s like someone went through an old town report and grabbed some names,” she added.

The printed return envelope labels do not accurately reflect the sender. Return addresses were linked to individuals and businesses in Maine and New Jersey.

The envelopes were mailed through the U.S. Postal Service and postmarked Feb. 15 in Hampden.

Targett said Thursday she is not sure what she will do with the envelopes.
