Sandra Aldea (Gamache) Albert

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Sandra Aldea (Gamache) Albert, 73, of Lewiston, went to heaven Saturday, May 20, 2023 with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Romeo and Cecile Gamache on Aug. 15, 1949 in Lisbon. Sandra graduated from Lisbon High School in 1967 and received her LPN degree from Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute, School of Practical Nursing in 1973.

Sandra married Rudolphe Albert in 1968 and they lived in Lewiston, for many years before moving to Melbourne, Fla. in 2011. Sandra worked as a nurse at Marcotte Nursing Home, Good Shepherd Nursing Home, and The Lamp Nursing Home. She then created the Red Lollipop Daycare Center, which she owned and operated for 20 years. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Lewiston where she sang in the choir and folk group. She had a passion for the beach, singing, music, animals, laughing, baking, and spending time with family.

Sandra will be sadly missed by two sisters, Deborah Merrill and husband, Thomas of Lewiston and Kathy Starbird and husband Ronnie of Lisbon, a brother, Leland Gamache and wife, Linda of Lisbon; as well as three children, Shellianne LaFrance and late husband Michael, Jennifer Poussard and husband Donald Jr., Jacob Albert and wife Pamela, all of Melbourne, Fla., and her late son, Rudy Albert and wife Krystal of Bangor; 24 nieces and nephews; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Saturday, June 3 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Albert and Burpee Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ss. Peter and Paul Basilica (upper church) in Lewiston at 11 a.m., with burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
