Cassie Lang, right, of
Auburn talks with her mother Cheryl Lang of Turner during the first annual
Valentine’s day party with Pack Life at The Kennel Shop in Lewiston on Saturday.
Cassie Lang and Chris Manson are co-founders of Pack Life, a non-profit
organization that is dedicated to reducing the number of dogs that are
euthanized in the United States each year. Four to five million dogs and cats
are put down each year in the U.S. because of overpopulation, said Cassie Lang.
She and Manson offered Valentine treats to dogs during the event and talked to
pet owners about the importance of spaying or neutering. “We are just here to
educate people,” said Lang, owner of two Labrador retrievers. “You can’t blame
them if they don’t know.” Lang said that there are a number of resources that
can help with the cost of spaying or neutering. For more information, visit www.packlife.org.
