PORTLAND — Vivid Motion Inc. will bring “Nutcracker Burlesque,” a twist on the classic tale, to the St. Lawrence Arts Center Thursday through Monday,  Dec. 17-21.

This year, Clara is hosting her own holiday party which quickly hurtles out of control and transitions into a dream in which the Nutcracker Prince and the Rat King vie for her attentions. After being led through a storm of tempestuous snowflakes, Clara spends the second half of the show watching belly dancers shake, shimmy and twirl; working men and women get some after-work entertainment; Vegas showgirls strutting their stuff; and a hip-hop battle between good and evil where she joins the action to kick it up a notch.

The ensemble will present original music this year, as well as some new versions of classic songs by Tchaikovsky and others, showcasing the jazz-rock ensemble talents of Ted Millington on guitar, Jason Leone on drums, Joseph Paulus on piano and Adam Ames on bass.

Vivid Motion’s dancers hail from Saco to Windham, range from classically trained ballerinas to hip-hop clubbers, and vary from students to career professionals.

Tickets are $12. No children please. Tickets are available online at www.nutcrackerburlesque.com and at all Bull Moose Music locations. Reservations are not accepted. Performances are at 8 p.m., Thursday through Monday, Dec. 17 through 21, at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress St.
