LEWISTON — Roy Leblanc looks, moves and sings like Elvis Presley.

So much so that his talents have earned him the distinction of a six-time champion in Las Vegas and recognition as one of the nation’s top-rated Elvis impersonators.

On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23-24, L/A Music Productions will bring Leblanc, who has been doing his take on The King for about 12 years, and his band to the Ramada Inn for an encore performance.

“I have been doing sound for bands for over 20 years and Roy Leblanc is only one of the performers of his time that simply has what it takes,” said Jeff St. Amand, owner of L/A Music Productions.

“Our production company will set the scene with a Las Vegas-style show as ‘Elvis,’ performs on stage,” St. Amand added.

Roy, who lives in Toronto, has traveled the globe with his “Shake, Rattle and Roll” performances, which also feature gospel music along with impersonations of Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and sometimes other performers.

One woman who attended a previous sold-out show at the Ramada recalls holding hands with her husband when Leblanc sang “Love Me Tender.” The experience brought back cherished memories for the couple.

Through the years, LeBlanc has had opportunities to sing with some of the original back-up vocalists and instrumentalists who worked with Elvis. These include the Jordanaires, the Sweet Inspirations and D.J. Fontana, who played drums for Elvis in the early years.

“My show is a respectful tribute to Elvis,” LeBlanc said. “It’s not a re-creation of a single concert. I try to cover his entire life.”
He said Elvis was always unpredictable on stage, and he tries to keep his shows spontaneous and fan-oriented.
