FARMINGTON — Police say a Temple man tried to disguise himself as a police officer in a phone call to a person with a protection from abuse order against him.

Joseph Bergeron, 37, was arrested Wednesday on charges of impersonating a public servant, violation of a protection from abuse order and violation of conditions of release.

He pretended to be a police officer to obtain information, according to the police report. But Bergeron’s disguised voice only fooled the victim for a moment, it said.

After the call, the victim called Farmington Police Department to see if an officer was looking for her, said Bonnie Pomeroy, department secretary.

Following the incident, Detective Darin Gilbert arrested Bergeron at his residence.

Bergeron remained at Franklin County Detention Center on Thursday.
