1917 – 2003

LEWISTON — Margaret D. (McDonald) Tilton, 85, formerly of Gardiner died Friday, March 28, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Augusta on Nov. 21, 1917, the third child of John Francis McDonald and Rusha Gaslin McDonald. She attended area schools and worked in the health area field as a cook and direct care aide.

She lived in the Kennebec County area most of her life until moving to Auburn in 1990.

She was very active in her church and volunteered in her community until she became ill.

She loved animals and “adopted” many stray cats over the years.

Survivors include her sons, Francis “Lee” Bagley and his wife, Audrey of Bridgton, Willard “Bill” Bagley and his wife Sandy of Madison, Walter Bagley and his wife Carolee of North Anson, Charles Bagley and his wife, Charmaine of Lisbon Falls, Bradley Corbin and his wife, Betty of Chelsea, Arthur “Joe” LaChance and his wife, Janice of Pittston, and Wilfred “Jim” LaChance and his wife, Aurelie of Enfield, Conn.; one sister, Anna Heald of Augusta; 20 grandchildren; step grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
