A short time ago, the people of Maine displayed a great outpouring of support for the Somali newcomers. Why is it, I wonder, that we have not heard one word of support from them for our efforts to liberate their Islamic brothers in Iraq from a ruthless and bloody regime?
It has been by the blood, sweat and tears of Americans that benefits to them and others have come to pass. Not only have we given them a new chance at life, but it was Americans that stopped the genocide of Muslims in Bosnia, lifted the yoke of oppression in Afghanistan and now are fighting to liberate Iraq from a bloody dictator.
We took to the streets in January in a show of support for them; it seems that they, who have benefited so much, should have been among the first to take to the streets to support those who fight for freedom.
Few have joined those who have been out rallying to support our troops, nor have I seen a single letter of support from Somalis.
