I enjoyed your article “A turn for the worse” in the March 29 Sun Journal.
We at Bradco Chair Co. appreciate your mentioning us as “successful.” This has resulted from our ability to diversify both with developing new products and finding new markets.
Fifteen years ago we made mostly pine chairs for the wholesale market. Today we make hardwood furniture for the retail and commercial/institutional markets. Much of our wholesale business has gone to Chinese and Canadian manufacturers.
It’s all about finding niche markets for high quality, hand-made furniture utilizing native Maine hardwoods.
Our new retail showroom and Web site are attracting lots of local business. We thank the people of the Lewiston/Auburn area for supporting us.
This includes the retail customers who come to our showroom and those who own restaurants, libraries, professional offices and retirement homes who are looking for locally-made furniture that is above the quality of imports.
We’re a company that can create furniture to meet a customer’s needs for home or business. That’s our niche and that is why we are “successful.”
