1917 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Anne Joan Botkos Bickford, 85, of Farmington, formerly of Wilton, died peacefully April 7, at the Sandy River Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation, where she had been a resident since July 3, 2001.

Born in Lincoln, N.H., Oct. 26, 1917, the daughter of Louis and Maggie (Wersewstis) Botkos, she graduated from Mexico High School.

In 1941 she married Clifton L. Bickford and he died June 1, 1976. For many years she was employed at Diamond National in Dixfield and retired from G.H. Bass and Co., Wilton.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Farmington. During her retirement, she enjoyed playing cards and volunteering at Sandy River.

Survivors include her son, John Bickford of Rumford; two daughters, Judith and her husband, Dennis Landry of Wilton and Betty and her husband, Chris Crawford of East Hartford, Conn.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Robert Hanson of Hollis Center; and a sister, Nellie Trask of Norfolk Beach, Va.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Donna Hanson and a sister, Mamie Stalmuke.
