1924 – 2003

SABATTUS – Emily Rebbecca Labbe, 78, a resident of the Keay Road, died at her home Monday, April 7, following a long illness.

Born in Bowdoin, Aug. 2, 1924, the daughter of Frank R. and Myrtle Arno Curtis, she received her education at the Fisher School in Webster, now known as Sabattus.

Ms. Labbe was employed as a meat wrapper at the Red & White Store, formerly of Lisbon and for many years was employed as a gluer at Sableman Shoe Co., later known as Security Heel of Lewiston.

She attended the West Bowdoin Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed the interest of reading, pets, having raised many cats and dogs over the years, going to local fairs and camping with her children and grandchildren. In recent years she drew great enjoyment from her great-grandchildren. Her family was what was most important to her and she looked forward to the times she was able to spend with them.

Survivors include one son, Stanley E. (Buddy) Labbe and his wife, Claire of Litchfield; two daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Phyllis E.) Rowe of Litchfield and Mrs. Steve (Jeanie A.) Goucher of Sabattus; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four sisters; and one brother.
