1905 – 2003

LEWISTON – Helen F. Martin, 97, of 10 Oak Park died Tuesday afternoon at Montello Manor following a lingering illness.

She was born at Mercer, Dec. 19, 1905, the daughter of Weldon C. and Mary Ann Carver Black. She graduated from Litchfield Academy, Farmington Normal, Bliss College and Boston College. Former member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Christian Women and Litchfield Grange. Taught in Starboard School and did private tutoring.

Life member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, Senior Citizens. Worked for many years on the Election Board, Heart Fund, Muscular Dystrophy and the Helen Martin Fund which she gave two scholarships, she was very active in charitable causes. Married Robert A. Martin who passed away in 1970

Survived by two sisters, Minnie Gray of Lisbon and Ruth Gray of Bowdoinham; a brother, Russell Black of Litchfield. She was predeceased by a son, Father Ronnie; and a sister, Annie Wight
