As I drive through town I am compelled to ask: Where are the American flags? Where are the yellow ribbons?

I understand there are differences of opinion about this war, but we should all be in agreement to support our troops; our troops have always supported us.

I sit quietly and watch my husband gather his gear to pack his duffel bag, as his unit is on alert. I take a deep breath, but no words need to be said as it is an unspoken understanding as a military wife. For he, like so many other soldiers, believes in our freedom, liberty and love of country and will go where needed at a moment’s notice and ask for nothing in return.

People say the war is not here in our homeland, but Sept. 11 said different.

People should ask themselves this: What would our country be like if we didn’t have these kind of men and women past, present and future serving our country?

We should put our ribbons up. Fly our flags in pride and support of our troops.
