Although I am a resident of Greene, I’ve been following with interest and concern the Sabattus school system article about dropping the social worker due to lack of funds in the town budget.
Believe me, I hope the town finds some money to continue this needed service to the school kids.
As a volunteer at the Greene Central School, I see firsthand how many of the “kids” fare from these services. These are the adults of tomorrow and unless they receive love, support and needed services today, many won’t make the grade to become meaningful citizens in the future.
The school board should reconsider and look deeper to find places where the budget could be cut or rearranged to find monies for this necessary service.
