Anyone wishing to do business here in Maine should pay taxes like the rest of us. The idea of letting them be tax free to induce them to come here does not work. When taxes are due they close shop and leave. We are stuck with so many empty buildings as it is and still paying for them.
Mainers should show the nation we are tired of being used as a soft touch.
If they are not here to stay they should not come at all. Instead, we should encourage our own people and help them stay in business with tax breaks. Why give them to outsiders who care not for Maine nor its people, but only for a fast buck at our expense?
It makes me angry to see us being used thus. When will we learn and start thinking of Mainers and their needs instead of catering to outsiders?
It is about time our government officials learn to cut better deals. Why sell us out to foreign traders all the time? Don’t we Mainers count for anything? It is about time we all stand up and stop being had!
As it is much of our land and forest is going to developers and foreign countries. Is anyone noticing?
Who helps farmers stay in business? No food means we starve. Will other countries care?
Wake up Maine! We must wake up or die economically while others reap the benefits of the land and we go without.
