MIAMI – Michael Jordan’s career will end without a postseason run.

Jordan scored 25 points, tormenting Pat Riley for the final time, as the Washington Wizards beat the Miami Heat 91-87 Friday night.

But Milwaukee and Orlando also won, eliminating the Wizards from the playoffs with three games remaining.

The night wasn’t a complete waste for Jordan, who plans to retire at the end of the season.

The 40-year-old superstar with six NBA championship rings retained the all-time scoring average lead and had his number retired by the Heat.

Jordan needed just 17 points to retain the all-time scoring lead over Wilt Chamberlain. Jordan has averaged 30.2 to Chamberlain’s 30.1.

He scored seven of the team’s first eight points and finished with 15 points in the first quarter on 7-of-12 shooting. He came off the bench in the second and immediately hit a midrange jumper to secure the all-time scoring lead. The play received no recognition, a stark contrast from the pregame ceremony.

The Heat retired Jordan’s No. 23 jersey before his final game in Miami. The jersey – half red for the Chicago Bulls and half blue for the Washington Wizards – was hung from the rafters, and coach Pat Riley said no Heat player will wear the number again.

Jordan then hugged Riley and waved to the crowd. Jordan averaged 30.2 points on 51.5 percent shooting in 37 regular-season games against the Heat with the Bulls and Wizards. He was even better in the playoffs, averaging 34.2 points in 11 games.

Elton Brand had 20 points, and Corey Maggette 18 for the Clippers, who began a back-and-forth second half with an 18-12 run that cut the Wolves’ lead to 61-58.

Minnesota, which shot 72 percent (13-for-18) in the third quarter, outscored Los Angeles 13-2 over the final three minutes of the period to take an 85-65 lead on Marc Jackson’s pull-up 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The Clippers cut it to 90-83 on Eric Piatkowski’s layup with eight minutes to go, but they didn’t score again until a jumper by Sean Rooks with 2:15 left.

ATLANTA – Six different players scored during Atlanta’s 26-0 run in the first quarter, and the Hawks went on to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 109-89 Friday night.

The Cavs have lost 20 straight on the road and fell to 15-64 overall.

Dion Glover had 20 points, and Theo Ratliff and Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 17 apiece in only three quarters as the Hawks put all five starters in double figures for the second straight game.

NEW YORK – Allan Houston scored 25 points, and Howard Eisley added 18 as the New York Knicks beat the Philadelphia 76ers 108-103 Friday night.

Latrell Sprewell played tough defense on 76ers guard Allen Iverson and had eight of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to lead New York down the stretch.

Iverson had 20 points and 11 assists for Philadelphia, which had won two straight but was again without starting forwards Derrick Coleman and Keith Van Horn. But Philadelphia’s star guard scored only four points in the fourth quarter, and the 76ers fell back in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Eric Snow scored 18 points and Kenny Thomas added 15 points and 10 rebounds, but had a shot blocked by Clarence Weatherspoon with 29 seconds left, and Sprewell’s pair of free throws moments later put New York up 102-96. Philadelphia, which outrebounded New York 37-27, never got closer than three points the rest of the way.

TORONTO – Toni Kukoc scored 25 points, and the Milwaukee Bucks clinched a playoff spot with a 105-103 win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday night.

Toronto’s Alvin Williams missed two chances to send the game into overtime in the final 10 seconds. On the first, he was fouled by Gary Payton on a drive to the basket with 6.3 seconds left in the game, but he made only one of two free throws to cut Milwaukee’s lead to 104-103.

Williams had one final opportunity, after Tim Thomas missed one of his free throws with 5.6 seconds left, but he missed a layup. Jerome Williams grabbed the rebound and powered down a dunk which would have tied the game, but it came after the buzzer. The officials used video replay and the play stood.

Swift had 19 points and 11 rebounds. Gasol had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The Grizzlies overcame career bests of 31 points and 20 rebounds by Portland’s Zach Randolph, who had played sparingly since serving a two-game team suspension for punching teammate Ruben Patterson. Randolph, starting for an injured Dale Davis, connected on 13 of 25 shots.

The Magic turned the game around in the third, going on a 14-4 run to take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. They let the Pacers pull within one midway through the fourth, but Pat Garrity hit a jumper and a 3-pointer to push the lead back to six.

Another 3-pointer by Garrity, who finished with 11 points, made it 86-75 and the Magic cruised from there. They finished the series 1-2 against the Pacers.

SAN ANTONIO – Malik Rose scored 20 points, and Tim Duncan added 18 as the San Antonio Spurs held off a late run by the Seattle SuperSonics to post their 11th straight win, 94-86, on Friday night.

The Sonics had cut San Antonio’s lead to 86-82 on Brent Barry’s alley-oop pass to Rashard Lewis with 2:31 left in the game. The Spurs then won the game at the free throw line. Manu Ginobili made four, and Rose and Tony Parker made two each over the final 21/2 minutes.

Parker finished with 16 points, Ginobili 15 and Speedy Claxton 13. Duncan led all rebounders with 15.

Ray Allen had 32 points to lead the Sonics, who came into the game with an outside chance of making the playoffs.

A Phoenix victory in its game Friday against Golden State would eliminate Seattle from contention.

Allen was 8-for-11 from the floor in the second half after his prime defender, Bruce Bowen, was ejected for picking up his second technical foul.

Lewis scored 13 points and Predrag Drobnjak 12 for the SuperSonics.

Trailing by 12 with little more than a minute remaining in the third, Seattle trimmed San Antonio’s lead to 69-64 on a 3-pointer by Drobnjak, a layup by Lewis and two free throws by Kevin Ollie. Claxton then hit a 20-footer with 0.7 seconds left to make it 71-64 heading into the fourth.

The Spurs’ biggest lead was 21, 52-31, with 3:04 remaining before halftime when Parker made his second 3-pointer in as many possessions. The Sonics, laboring to defend San Antonio’s big men inside, committed 19 fouls in the first half that the Spurs turned into 12 points at the free throw line.

Barry led Seattle on an 8-1 burst by making a pair of 3-pointers in the final 1:15 of the half to cut the Sonics’ deficit to 53-39.
