OXFORD — Anderson Staples Post 112, American Legion recently honored the Young Citizens Group at Madison Avenue Elementary School.

A wall plaque, citation of appreciation and a Maine flag were presented to the students for exhibiting outstanding citizenship by displaying the U.S. flag. The youths were commended for showing pride in their country and for being reponsible and dependable students.

Members of the Young Citizns Group are Henry Buck, Dustin Surette, Erick Rolfe, Alexis Kennedy, Chris Ney, Megan Gauger, Diamond Whiteley and Josh Straiton raise and lower the flag every school day and properly fold and care for it.
