Edward Little has been battling near the top of the Southern Maine Activites Association since ’95, but have graduated six of seven starters. Junior Adam Platt has moved in to a singles spot and Carl Clement has JV experience. The remaining players will have an opportunity to improve quickly. Deering and Lewiston should be on top. The Edward Little girls should be strong with Andrea Gove and Jamie Ward. A lot depends on how the doubles teams develop. Look for Lewiston, McAuley and South Portland to battle it out.

Saint Dom’s may find the going tough in the Western Maine Conference. Micheal Perreault, Chris Dubay and Chris Gosselin all played at doubles last season, so they will need to adjust to singles. The doubles tandems will be green. North Yarmouth Academy will be strong in Class C, while Falmouth has always been a threat. In Class B, Fryeburg annually pulls in some transplants. Greely has been on an upswing.

For the first time in a decade, the Winthrop boys will not have a Cutter in the lineup. Still, the Ramblers have a strong winning tradition. Boothbay rose up last spring to win the Mountain Valley Conference. These teams will battle again, with Monmouth, Dirigo, Jay and Mt. Abram in the middle of the pack. Mountain Valley and Wiscasset strive to earn Class B playoff berths. On the girls side, Dirigo graduated six of seven. Kristy Pravanta of Winthrop will be untouchable. The door is open for Mountain Valley and Jay.
