TURNER – Dustin Gilbert fired a one-hitter and struck out five to power Leavitt to a season-opening 7-1 victory over Skowhegan in baseball action Monday.

Lance Poland pounded out two hits and drove in three runs for the Hornets (1-0). Chad Schrepper added a double.

A.J. Berble took the loss for Skowhegan.

Mt. Blue 8, Messalonskee 3

FARMINGTON – Jason Shaw had two hits and two RBIs to lead Mt. Blue to an 8-3 win over Messalonskee.

Justin Tibbetts pitched the first five innings for the Cougars, striking out seven and allowing four hits. He was replaced in the sixth inning by Tyson Weeks, who finished the game.

Pitcher Justin Parker hit a double, the only extra base hit of the game for the Eagles.

St. Dom’s 15, Waynflete 0

PORTLAND – Ian Pullen rocked a three-run homer in the fourth inning as St. Dom’s dominated with a 15-0 win over Waynflete in baseball action Monday afternoon.

The Saint’s Josh Dwinal hit a triple and recorded three RBIs, while Ryan Turgeon had two hits, including a double. Tyler Turgeon went 2-4 with two RBIs.

Ryan Turgeon and Jack Lavoie split the time on the mound, combining for two hits and 10 strikeouts.

Oxford Hills 7, Medomak 2

SOUTH PARIS – Garrett Olson smacked two hits and pitched a complete game five-hitter as Oxford Hills opened its KVAC season with a 7-2 win over Medomak Valley.

The Vikings (1-0) closed a 2-0 deficit in the third when Olson knocked a triple to drive in a run, then scored on Matt McDonnell’s RBI single.

An RBI double by Chris Henderson and run-scoring single by Kevin Skalski gave Oxford Hills the lead for good in a four-run fifth.

Olson struck out 11 and walked two in his seven innings of work. Pitcher Carlos Artiara had two hits to lead Medomak (0-1) and gave up nine hits on the mound while fanning four and walking two.

Bridgton 16, Hebron 3

HEBRON – Chris Matthews and Dom Mettit each hit two singles as Bridgton dominated Hebron 16-3 Monday.

Bridgton (3-2) took advantage of four Hebron errors and the wildness of Hebron pitcher Josh Darrah, who hit four batters.

Bridgton’s John Rubino allowed three hits and recorded six strikeouts.

Hebron was led by Dave Wheatley who hit a double for the effort.
