1941 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Arnold L. “Sonny” Cain, 62, of Stratton, died Monday, April 14, at Franklin Memorial Hospital after a long battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Portland, April 1, 1941, a son of Arnold and Madeline (Flagg) Cain. On Feb. 6, 1967, he was ordained at the World Christian College in Chicago, Ill. He was a reverend of the Baptist Church of Chelsea, Vt., and had also been active in prison ministry.

He enjoyed traveling and went cross country by train. He loved the mountains; he always said they made him feel closer to The Father. “Sonny” had many close friends and through his ministry and prayer request missions, touched many lives.

He is survived by two sons, Mark Cain and his wife, Debbie of Biddeford and Gilbert Cain of Biddeford; three daughters, Dianna (Dee) Cooper of Biddeford, Veronica (Vicky) Morrissette of Saco, and Marilyn Petrin and her husband Jimmy of Saco; two brothers, Al Cain and Celine of Skowhegan and Billy Cain and his wife Jeanette of Lincoln; a sister, Violet Roy and her husband Gilbert of Houlton; five grandchildren, Gerry Shannon III at USM in Gorham, John Shannon of Caribou, Charyssa Shannon of Norway, Dustin (DJ) Hutchins of Biddeford, and Jessica Morrissette of Saco; and a very dear friend, Beverly Mansfield of Rangeley.

He was predeceased by a brother, Buster.
