BETHEL – The Norway Savings Bank recently presented Family Future Scholarships to three SAD 44 students. Winners of the $100 scholarships were Victoria Forkus, grade four, Woodstock Elementary School; Michael MacKnight, grade five, Andover Elementary School; and Karen White, grade three, Crescent Park Elementary School.
There were 30 scholarships awarded from the 374 applications submitted. The applicants submitted essays describing what they were doing today that might make a great career for them in the future and what would they study in college that would help prepare them for their chosen profession. Victoria wants to be an actress and study at Bates or Berkeley. Michael wants to study engineering at MIT or West Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Karen plans a career in nursing.
The winners were presented scholarships at a celebration April 2 at Oxford Hills High School. Presenting the awards were Robert Harmon, president and chief executive officer, Norway Savings Bank; and Kelly Duguay, Norway Savings Bank, Bethel.
