1943 – 2003

AUBURN – Jim McLellan died peacefully at home on April 16, after a brief illness.

Born in Portland, Jan. 26, 1943, a son of John and Lena McLellan, he attended Portland schools, graduating from Portland High in 1961.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a gunners mate on the USS Tills. He worked in the construction industry for several years, before entering the field of real estate. Recently he retired to pursue a long-time dream of developing a small working farm. With the help of family and friends he constructed a 3,000 square foot greenhouse, planning to raise vegetables for sale to local markets.

He was proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He liked outdoor activities, especially hunting. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his easy going personality, his positive attitude and his love of gadgets. He attended Eastgate Christian Fellowship and credited his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for his quality of life.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 23 years, Jan (Bradbury) McLellan of Auburn; his son, Steve McLellan and his wife, Karen of Portland; his daughter, Kathy Jackson and her husband, Jim of Portland; his son, Dan McLellan and his wife, Martha of Windham; his son, Scott McLellan and his wife, Lisa of Buxton; two grandchildren, Savannah McLellan and Miles McLellan; a brother, Richard McLellan of Westbrook; a sister, Mary Brown of Portland; and many dear friends.

He was predeceased by a sister, Louise Cooledge.
