1926 – 2003

LEWISTON – Jeanette B. Decoteau, 76, of 3 Ninth St., Auburn, died Thursday, April 17, at the Central Maine Medical Center.

Born in Skowhegan on Dec. 15, 1926, she was the daughter of Damase and Martha Violette Bosse. She graduated from Skowhegan High School, Class of ’44, and attended Farmington Teachers College for two years. She was married to Roland E. Decoteau in Skowhegan on Aug. 26, 1946.

She worked for several years as a substitute teacher in the Rumford, Mexico, and Dixfield school districts. A member of Sacred Heart Parish, she was a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne and of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post 153. She was an avid bridge player, and loved to knit, making over 50 pairs of mittens every year for schoolchildren in Belfast, Swanville, and Auburn.

Survivors include her husband of Auburn; four sons, Gerard and wife Eva of Lewiston, Maurice and wife Louise of Belfast, John and wife Louise of Auburn, and Paul and wife Debra of Leicester, NC; three sisters, Nora Gravel of Long Island, NY, Theresa Hunter and husband Charles of Skowhegan, and Anita Durland and husband Gene of Arlington, Texas; a brother, James Bosse and wife Joan of Antioch, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Paul Michael, John Andrew and wife Kindra, Michael, Dr. Matthew, John Gregory, Jesse and Jennifer Decoteau.

She was predeceased by a sister, Doris Laliberte; and a brother, Eugene Bosse.
