LEWISTON – The seven CareerCenters of Central/Western Maine are getting a new look online and are offering Web-based services, according to Bryant Hoffman. He is executive director of the Workforce Investment Board, which oversees the centers.
The Bureau of Employment Services and InforMe, the state Web host, are giving the Maine CareerCenter Web site a new design, including all of Maine’s local CareerCenter pages. The redesign will enable the CareerCenters to receive job orders from employers directly online.
The seven CareerCenters are in Augusta, Lewiston, Norway, Rumford, Skowhegan, Waterville and Wilton. They encompass five counties: Androscoggin, Franklin, Kennebec, Oxford and Somerset.
The software will be individually installed at the local offices. It has already been installed and staff trained at the Augusta, Lewiston, Skowhegan and Wilton CareerCenters.
To access the Web site, people can visit www.mainecareercenter.com, and click on an individual location.
Maine’s CareerCenters offer access to vocational rehabilitation, youth programs, veterans’ services and adult education. Each office has an Information Center that offers use of computers, a library, office equipment and telephones. All services of the CareerCenters are available at no cost. For more information about the centers, people can call 1-888-457-8883; TTY: 1-800-794-1110.
