I certainly agree with Mr. Fred A. Huntress Jr. concerning Thorncrag Bird Sanctuary being left alone (April 1).

Professor Jonathan Y. Stanton donated that beautiful tract of land for wildlife to enjoy, as well as citizens who love nature. Why destroy the beauty of nature?

The so-called bird club wants to put a building there so it can sell lots of T-shirts, books, etc. Why build among nature? Marden’s has all those things, and more, and it’s not far from the bird sanctuary.

The club wants to have a paved parking lot for buses and cars. Why destroy a beautiful track of land? The city of Lewiston has four parking garages.

Can you imagine those big machines, bulldozers and back hoes, pulling and pushing those beautiful trees down for the facilities that the bird club wants? That sure will destroy the sanctuary. The wildlife will move out and nothing will be left to see.
