AUGUSTA – Department of Conservation Commissioner Patrick McGowan announced the appointment of Catherine M. Carroll as land use regulation commission director.

Carroll holds a bachelor of science degree from The Evergreen State College of Olympia, Wash. She has served as acting director since January of 2002.

On April 9, the LURC Commission voted unanimously to accept and confirm her appointment. LURC serves as the planning and zoning authority for the state’s 10.5 million acres of townships, plantations and unorganized areas.
