BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) – Champlain College has settled a dispute over its state land-use permit and can now move ahead with a $30 million expansion. The college had wanted to start construction on a Global Business and Technology Center last summer, but a neighbor appealed the Act 250 land use permit over traffic concerns.

The permit also covered construction of a student center.

The Environmental Board agreed to dismiss the appeal last week after the two parties resolved their differences.

Construction is likely to being within weeks. The business and technology center is scheduled to open in the fall of 2004 followed by the student center a year after that, an official said.
