Horizons/55,

center join to offer

free bladder health nursing consultations.

LEWISTON – The Bladder Control Center and Horizons/55 will begin offering free bladder health nursing consults in May.

Angela Dubuc, the registered nurse who manages the Bladder Control Center, will be available for consults on Monday mornings beginning May 5. They will be by appointment only.

Appointments will be one-on-one, scheduled for 30 minutes and will take place in a private office at Horizons/55 in the Lewiston Mall.

Common bladder health issues include, but are not limited to, urinary leakage (incontinence), urinary frequency and urgency, nocturia (sleep disruption caused by the need to urinate), intermittent urinary stream, weak/slow urine stream and frequent urinary tract infections.

Although Dubuc cannot provide definitive diagnostic testing during the interview, she can assess symptoms and explain the various diagnostic tests, procedures and treatment options available for those seeking to better manage bladder control problems.

“The Bladder Health Consults program is an effort to provide area residents with the most current information about bladder-related health issues,” Dubuc said.

Dubuc has worked at Central Maine Medical Center since 1992, serving in a variety of nursing roles. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Maine in Portland, where she graduated with honors.

The center is a Central Maine Medical Center program that offers diagnostic and treatment services for those coping with bladder health issues. Horizons/55 is CMMC’s health and lifestyle education program for the regions older residents.

Those interested in scheduling an appointment should call Horizons/55 at 795-2905 or 1-800-564-4555.
