LEWISTON – The Maine Campground Owners Association recently announced the election of a new slate of presiding officers for 2003-2004. The announcement came at MECOA’s Annual Spring Meeting and Trade Show, which was held April 4-5 at the Samoset Resort, in Rockport.

New officers include President David L. Berg, Red Apple Campground, Kennebunkport; Vice President Astrig M. Tanguay, Searsport Shores Campground, Searsport; Treasurer David Wight, Poland Spring Campground, Poland Spring; Secretary Brian Cayer, Palmyra RV and Golf Resort, Palmyra.

Board members who were re-elected to three-year terms included David L. Berg, Red Apple Campground, Kennebunkport; Astrig M. Tanguay, Searsport Shores Campground, Searsport; Richard Parent, Beaver Brook Campground, North Monmouth; Jim Ferrier, Duck Puddle Campground, Nobleboro.

Elected to a first term on the board was Sal Bonetti, Vacationland Campground, Harrison.

In addition to the election of new officers and board members, the following awards were presented to MECOA members:

2003 Campground Owner of the Year, David L. and Jane E. Berg, Red Apple Campground, Kennebunkport; 2003 Trade member of the Year, Jim Calfee Insurance Agencies, Inc., Broomfield, Co.; MECOA Hall of Fame, Eileen and Peter Marucci, Colonial Mast Campground, Naples; 2003 Richard Hartford Award, Outstanding Contributor to the Camping Industry, Carolyn M. Manson, Hallowell; President Plaque, 2001-1003, Richard Parent, Beaver Brook Campground, North Monmouth; Director Plaques, Hilda Coskery, Flying Point Campground, Freeport; Thomas Gomolka, Riverbend Campground, Leeds; Duncan Holt, Kings and Queens Resort, Lebanon.
