AUBURN – Crews will close part of Youngs Corner Road for the next month, wrapping up a construction project that started last fall.

The road will be closed between Perkins Ridge and Lost Valley Ski Area through mid-May, according to Paul Niehoff, Auburn pavement management technician. The road gets heavy use from commuters daily, and Niehoff said they’ll have to find another way into town.

“They did it last fall without much trouble,” Niehoff said.

Crews will be installing a drainage system under the road, as well as repaving and adding curbs. That work began in October but stopped for the winter in November.

“We did about 1,600 feet for the first stretch, and that was about half of the road,” Niehoff said.

Only area residents and drivers traveling to Lost Valley will be able to use the road during construction, he said.
