FARMINGTON – The final community luncheon of the season will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street.
The menu for the meal includes roast pork, potatoes, green beans, homemade applesauce and biscuits with assorted cakes for dessert. These meals are offered free to the community and all are welcome.

North Chesterville history
CHESTERVILLE – A talk titled “Glimpses of North Chesterville, 1830-1900” will be given by Megan Roberts at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in the meeting room of the Chesterville Fire Station, which is adjacent to the Town Hall on the Pope Road.
The program will be hosted by the Chesterville Heritage Society. Roberts will share slides, documents and various historical items including a unique map. In the role of the current repository of family history, Roberts has studied and organized materials pertaining to the Lovejoy, Keith and Walton families, as passed down through generations. Time will be set aside for discussion and refreshments. Admission is free with donations welcome.
Book donations being accepted
FARMINGTON – Donations of books are now being accepted for Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset counties’ annual book sale. Donations will be accepted until May 2. All used books are accepted except for encyclopedias, textbooks and condensed books.
The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 3, and from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the Elks Lodge in West Farmington. All books on Sunday will be $1 per bag. Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset counties offers free reading assistance to adults and participants in programs such as Teen Tutor Training, Family Literacy, New Books and New Readers.
