LEWISTON – The Child Health Center recently held its annual Bowl for Kids Sake event for the Androscoggin area. Funds help support the mentor/mentee matches formed under the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

Bowl for Kids’ Sake is an annual event in which people from local businesses and the community raise sponsorship monies, put together teams of four and bowl for two hours at Spare-Time Recreation.

This year’s top fund-raiser was Dede Medlen of Lisbon. Medlen was offered the opportunity to choose a prize. She chose an art piece by local artist Irene Duplissis.

The artist, whose style has been described as “rustic,” has been painting since her childhood and stated that she “enjoys mostly topics which depict the beautiful character of our New England states, both present and past, and remind us of the simple and basic truths which surround us.”

Duplissis’ work, which is displayed in exhibitions throughout the United Sates and abroad, can be viewed locally at her Wales studio.

The Child Health Center, a nonprofit organization, is located in Norway, with branches in Auburn and Rumford. For information regarding services call 743-7035.
