We have been discussing this situation in my classroom and many of us believe that it’s not fair to make up the days of school at the end of the year when we should be outside enjoying our summer on our own time! Some of us may have plans during these three extra days of school and we don’t want them to interrupt our vacation.

We do understand that the construction will make our school better, but there are some consequences that come with the deal.

My class has been going through construction for two years now and we’ve had many inconveniences. We have had to move to a total different area in our school and join two separate classes together so we are all one eighth grade class.

We have no library, no computer lab, limited phys ed, excessive noise, unsafe health conditions, no lockers, locker rooms, loss of our cafe, hot lunches and many more inconveniences, too.

We should not be forced to make up those three extra days.
