Why should Mt. Blue Middle School make up the three days that we missed in August?

First, we shouldn’t have to make up those days because it wasn’t our fault. We weren’t the ones who weren’t ready.

Second, when summer vacation comes around families make plans and taking children to school becomes somewhat of a hassle. That would be an inconvenience to them.

Third, some of us have summer commitments, such as jobs. A job is a full-time obligation and an interference would create problems.

Fourth, on the make-up days, we will most likely not be engaged in productive schoolwork. Most would agree that it will not be a valuable use of time. Not to mention, sitting in school on a hot summer day would prove rather uncomfortable.

Throughout the year, the students have had to continually work around the construction, limited computer use, interrupted schedules, limited sports facilities, traveling to different schools for classes, and loss of valuable time because of classroom moving.

Dealing with the constant building issues in the school throughout the year has been overwhelming enough for the students. It is not students’ duty or obligation to make up the days because construction workers were behind schedule.
