1924 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Edith Barclay Martin, 78, of Industry died Tuesday, April 29, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 8, 1924, in Dorchester, Mass., the daughter of Robert B. and Bertha (Smith) Brown. She graduated from the Needham High School in the class of 1942.

She married George Martin on Sept. 13, 1952 in Needham, Mass. She was his best friend. She was a columnist for the Needham Times. She was a member of the Industry Historical Society and a member of the Extension.

She loved the outdoors, where she could do her gardening, and fishing. She loved to do crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her husband, George of Industry, formerly of Needham, Mass.; three nephews, Douglas Hofer of Needham, Mass., Edward Byrnes of Worcester, Mass., and William Martin of Tulsa, Okla.; three nieces, Nancy Soltes and MaryAlice Byrnes both of Boonton,TWP, N.J., and Kathryn Mazur of Leverett, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Norma Brynes Fitch of Denville, NJ; and many great-nieces and nephews.
