WINTHROP – Winthrop Grange 209 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, for a potluck supper at the Grange Hall, Old Lewiston Road. At the 7:30 p.m. business meeting, the charter will be draped in memory of Golden Sheaf member Ann Roth and Norma Henderson, who held the office of Pomona at the time of her death. Marilyn Taylor is in charge of the Women’s Activities Night program, and Priscilla Chavarie, chairwoman, deaf activities program.

Grange degree

MINOT – Androscoggin Pomona Grange will confer the fifth degree at the West Minot Grange Hall on Wednesday, May 7. The host Grange will serve supper at 6:30 p.m. and the business meeting and degree work will start at 7:30. Anyone with items for the state CWA dress revue and tea is asked to bring them.

Gagnon recognized

AUBURN – Peter Van Gagnon, director of the Androscoggin County Emergency Management Agency and secretary for the Androscoggin County Chemical Emergency Planning Committee since 1987, was recognized by the committee for his 16 years of service and his assistance to its membership. Gagnon organized the county’s chemical planning committee before the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act became law. Management of the committee and its required activities is a function of the county Emergency Management Agency. Gagnon has served in the capacity of secretary since the inception of the committee in February of 1987. He will retire from his 37-year career with the Androscoggin County Emergency Management Agency and his role with the committee on May 16. The committee wished him well and presented him with a plaque noting their sentiments for his many years of service.
