Portland breaks open a tie game in the seventh inning.

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (AP) – The Portland Sea Dogs scored 10 runs in the final three innings to trounce the New Haven Ravens 13-3 on Friday in the Eastern League.

Raul Nieves and Justin Headley had RBI singles in the seventh inning to help the Sea Dogs (13-12) break open a 3-3 game.

Portland had four runs in the seventh inning against the Ravens bullpen.

Kevin Haverbusch and Tonayne Brown had two-run doubles as Portland added five more in the ninth.

New Haven (12-11) has lost a season-high three games in a row.

Jason Arnold allowed three runs in the first inning for the Ravens, including a two-run homer by Justin Sherrod. He settled down and didn’t allow a run over his final 5 1/3 innings before reaching his pitch count.

Junior Herndon (1-1) allowed nine hits in six innings, but still earned the victory.

Gabe Gross and Simon Pond each had three hits, including a home run, to lead New Haven offensively.
