SOUTH PARIS – Brent Grenier hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning as undefeated Oxford Hills coasted for a five-inning 12-2 win over Waterville.
Matt McDonnell hit a double in the first for the Vikings (8-0). Garrett Olson pitched struck out seven and added a triple in the third inning.
Anothony Jabar hit a solo homer in the second inning for Waterville (3-5).
Medomak Valley 3, Leavitt 2
WATERBORO – Jordan Morris fired a one-hitter and struck out seven, but it wasn’t enough as Leavitt dropped a 3-2 decision to Medomak Valley.
Mike Beadsley had a double for the Panthers’ lone hit.
Lance Poland and Tony Pirruccello each hit two singles for Leavitt (3-5). Chad Schrepper hit a solo homer in the first inning for the Hornets.
Telstar 5, Madison 0
BETHEL – Wade Osgood pitched a three-hit shutout while striking out 14 hitters to lead Telstar to a 5-0 win over Madison.
Aaron Huard of Madison (0-4) was the only repeat hitter on the afternoon, belting two of the Bulldogs’ three hits.
The Rebels (2-2) scored three runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth in the win.
Mt. Blue 4, Brunswick 3
FARMINGTON – Chelsea Allen stroked a double for the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Mt. Blue to a 4-3 victory over Brunswick in KVAC baseball action Monday.
The Cougars (4-4) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the third, but the Dragons (1-8) kept coming back, tying the game in both the sixth and seventh innings.
Aaron Wolfe scored the winning run on Allen’s double. Justin Tibbetts earned the pitching victory for a perfect 4-0 start to the season.
Jesse Hersey led the Dragons with a pair of hits in the loss.
Lisbon 21, Wiscasset 4
WISCASSET – Jarrod Church belted a grand slam home run in the fourth inning to lead Lisbon to a crushing 21-4 win over Wiscasset in Mountain Valley Conference action Monday.
Along with his grand slam, Church had six RBIs. Jon Tefft racked up eight strikeouts on the mound, and also helped the offense with a two-run homer in the fifth inning and finished with five RBIs for the Greyhounds (4-0). Jon Charette also had five RBIs and a double for the Lisbon victory.
The Wiscasset Redskins (2-2) was led by J.T. Haggett with a solo homer in the second inning.
Livermore Falls 4, Winthrop 2
WINTHROP – Levi Jones dropped a bloop single into center field for the game-winning RBI in the 12th inning as Livermore Falls outlasted Winthrop 4-2.
The Andies (3-2) tied up the contest at 2-2 in the top of the fourth, before things remained scoreless until the 12th. With two outs in the visiting frame of the 12th, Mike Shammard hit a single and subsequently went to second on a failed pick off attempt. Jones came up next and plated Shammard for the eventual game-winner.
The catcher Joel Weisberger hit the only extra base hit of the game with a double for the Ramblers (1-3).
Dirigo 5, Georges Valley 4
THOMASTON – Scott Bacon went 2-for-3, scored two runs, and stole a base as Dirigo snuck past Georges Valley 5-4.
Craig Langeruin was 1-for-3, with a stolen base and one run scored, while Corey Wing had a stolen base scored once for the Cougars.
Logan Rackliff struck out four batters while on the mound for Georges Valley (1-3).
Jay 6, Boothbay 1
BOOTHBAY – Josh Armandi gave up one run and struck out 12 batters to pitch Jay to a 6-1 victory over Boothbay.
The Sea Hawks were led by pitcher Will Carroll, who struck out nine and walked two. Offensively, Carroll hit the only extra base hit of the game, a double.
Jay improved to 4-2, while Boothbay dropped to 2-2.
Oak Hill 4, Erskine 1
SOUTH PARIS – Mike Daggett struck out 10 batters in seven innings as unbeaten Oak Hill slipped past Erskine 4-1 in baseball action Monday afternoon.
Jason Hutchinson and Warren Gosselin each had a double for Erskine (5-3).
Oak Hill’s record goes to 8-0.
Monmouth 4, Mtn. Valley 1
MONMOUTH – Mark Wade ripped solo home runs in the first and fifth innings to lead Monmouth to a 4-1 victory over Mountain Valley.
Wade also doubled in the third inning for the Mustangs (3-1). Catcher Jon Retelle had two singles and an RBI, while pitcher Josh Stroup struck out nine batters and gave up only one run.
Richard Ross was strong on the mound for the Falcons (2-2), striking out nine and walking one.
Lacrosse
Cony 5, Mt. Blue 3
FARMINGTON – Chris Guay scored two goals and recorded an assist to lead Cony to a 5-3 win over Mt. Blue in lacrosse action Monday afternoon.
Rick Brown chipped in with two more goals, while Phil Szela scored one for the Rams (5-1).
Tom Cook found the net twice, while Luke Ferriera added a goal for Mt. Blue (5-1).
Joel Dumont stopped 15 shots in net for the Rams win, while Freeman Scott made 20 saves for the Cougars.
Freeport 9, St. Dom’s 7
AUBURN – Kelso Davis netted three goals to lift Freeport to a 9-7 win over St. Dom’s in lacrosse action Monday.
Richie Smith chipped in with two goals, while Dan Cononico, Ben Pinkham, and Matt Dale each added a goal apiece for the Freeport.
Zach Tyburski scored six goals to lead St. Dom’s. Rolan Hamon completed the Saints’ scoring.
Tim Gray stopped 15 shots while in net; Brendan Dyer made 16 saves for the Saints.
