WESTBROOK – Craig Cormier singled in what proved to be the winning run in the fourth inning as Edward Little registered its first win of the season with a 5-0 blanking of Westbrook in SMAA high school baseball action Tuesday.
Also in the fourth, Derek Miller and Colby Souders executed the double-steal to perfection, allowing Souders to score from third.
Nick Lawler homered for EL, while Rory Flynn and Joe Simpson each doubled.
Brandon Elie picked up the win for the Red Eddies, striking out three and holding the Blue Blazes to just three hits.
Dirigo 9, Livermore Falls 1
DIXFIELD – Pitcher Brandon Berry struck out seven and helped his cause with two singles as Dirigo rolled to a 9-1 victory over Livermore Falls in Mountain Valley Conference action Tuesday.
Corey Wing recorded two RBIs, while Ed Gracey scored three runs for the Cougars (5-2) win.
Mike Chamard popped a double in the third inning for the Andies (3-3). Chamard would go on to score the lone run of the game for Livermore Falls off a wild pitch.
Georges Valley 6, Mt. Abram 3
SALEM – Scott Hastings ripped a double and two singles to help lead Georges Valley to a 6-3 win over Mt. Abram in baseball action Tuesday afternoon.
The game was called after six innings because of rain. Mt. Abram committed all three of their errors in the first inning to hand Georges Valley (2-3) four runs. The Roadrunners fought back, but ran out of time.
Sterling Pingree tripled in the second inning, while James Beedy tripled in the sixth inning for Mt. Abram (1-4).
Lacrosse
Lewiston 11, Portland 9
PORTLAND – Kirk Bolduc netted two goals and recorded an assist to lead Lewiston to an 11-9 win over Portland in lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon.
Evan Cyr and Adam Toutain each chipped in with a pair of goals for the Blue Devils (4-1). Sean Boulanger had a goal and three assists, while Ben Fournier added a goal and one assist. Jon Fournier, Tom Burg, Sean Boulanger, and Josh Beaule also scored.
Zach Williams scored three goals and had an assist, while Will Douglas added two goals and two assists for the Bulldog (2-3).
Billy Brooks made 14 saves in net for Lewiston, while Peter Sengelmann stopped 15 shots in the Portland cage.
