MINOT – The Minot Historical Society will meet on Tuesday, May 13, at the Minot Town Office. Doreen Convoy will discuss “Stenciling.”
Members met at the town office for the April session with President Hester Gilpatric presiding. The treasurer’s report showed a balance of $1,606.13.
Nancy Conant reported that the Archives Committee discussed donated items that carried special requests. It was decided that at the time of acquisition, the necessary requirements would be noted on the “Gifted Agreement Sheet.”
Other discussion concerned establishing a Web site. It was suggested that anyone who wished to set up a site should work with the president.
One member felt membership applications were needed to encourage new members. She was directed to bring a sample to the next meeting.
Donna Berry asked if anyone had pictures, history or information concerning the West Auburn School.
Vice President Eleanor Thayer introduced the speaker, George Ricker, who spoke on the “History of the Apple Industry.” Ricker, who grew up at Ricker Hill Orchards, has been associated with the Maine Pomological Society for many years. He is a retired teacher.
