JAY – Jenney Sayer drilled a double to center to push Amy Dolloff across with the game-winning run as Dirigo handed Jay a 1-0 setback in eight innings.
Angie Fenstermacher notched the victory, going the distance and allowing four hits for the Cougars (7-2).
Bre Loon nearly matched Fenstermacher’s performance as she allowed five hits before surendering the lone run.
Sacopee 3, Buckfield 1
BUCKFIELD – Felicia Libby scored the winning run on a passed ball in extra innings as Sacopee Valley edged Buckfield 3-1 in softball action Friday afternoon.
The Hawks scored first in the top of the second, but Danielle Buswell managed to tie the game on a sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the third that plated Colleen Violette.
Michelle Libby and Bonnie Johansen had the only extra base hits of the game with a double apiece for Sacopee Valley.
Buswell pitched all nine innings for the Bucks (5-1) and took the hard luck loss. Buckfield outhit the Hawks with seven singles.
Leavitt 19, Morse 0
BATH – Sam St. Hilaire tossed another complete-game shutout as Leavitt crushed Morse 19-0 in KVAC softball action Friday.
The Hornets (10-0) gained momentum as the game progressed, scoring seven runs in the fifth and final inning. Laura Pratt had a double, while Kristen Healy ripped a triple for the Hornets.
The Shipbuilders (2-9) were limited to a paltry two hits in the loss.
Portland 9, Edward Little 1
AUBURN – Portland exploded for seven unanswered runs in the top of the fourth inning to hand Edward Little a 9-1 loss in SMAA softball action Friday afternoon.
Kara O’Brion picked up the win allowing eight hits.
The Red Eddies were paced by Brittany Boisvert, who drove in Jamie Morrison with a double. Brittany Short took the loss.
Cony 6, Oxford Hills 0
SOUTH PARIS – Amanda LaPointe tossed a three-hit shutout to lead Cony to a 6-0 triumph over Oxford Hills.
Courtney Clark lined a single to center to score LaPointe with the first run.
Randi Arsenault took the loss for the Vikings (6-5).
Livermore Falls 10, Boothbay 4
BOOTHBAY HARBOR – Four different players had two hits apiece as Livermore Falls sailed to a 10-4 victory over Boothbay in MVC softball action Friday.
Despite each team pounding out 11 hits each, the Andies (3-5) scored runs in several innings leading up to the final frame. Taryn Flagg, Sara Hughes, Becky Killiam and Sarah Hamilton cracked two hits apiece.
The Seahawks (0-5) got things going in the seventh inning, but could only score four runs before running out of time. Mindy Heberlin had the game-high three hits, while Allison Cole chipped in with a pair in the loss.
Telstar 10, Mt. Abram 7
SALEM – Telstar used seven hits, an error, a walk and a hit batter to plate eight runs in the top of the fifth inning and then held off a furious rally to post a 10-7 win over Mt. Abram in MVC softball action Friday.
Winning pitcher Jillian Kimball helped her own cause with a double, and Tiffany Jordan added a triple for the Rebels.
The Roadrunners (2-5) scored four runs in the fourth inning and three more in the seventh to fall just short in their quest to rally past Telstar.
Lanie Roy and Kara Dudman each belted a home run in the loss.
Poland 7, Yarmouth 2
POLAND – Courtney Clark cleared the bases with a three-run double in the bottom of the fourth inning to lead Poland to a decisive 7-2 win over WMC rival Yarmouth in softball action Friday.
Nicole Lovejoy picked up the win on the mound and helped her own cause by hitting a triple and two singles and scoring three runs.
Yarmouth was led by Brie Brunell, who had two hits including a double.
Winthrop 7, Monmouth 5
MONMOUTH – Hannah Sirois cracked a pair of hits to lead Winthrop to a 7-5 win over Monmouth in MVC softball action Friday.
Emily Gauthier tallied 11 stikeouts for the Mustangs (2-3), but lacked support from the defense as the Ramblers (3-3) compiled five runs on several errors and passed balls in the third inning.
Katie Wing allowed only two hits while striking out five batters for the Winthrop victory.
Hebron 15, Kents Hill 10
HEBRON – Beth Potvin smashed a home run en route to Hebron’s 15-10 victory over Kents Hill.
Hebron was outhit, but managed to slug the ball a bit harder and at more opportune times. Danielle Dawson had a pair of doubles and Erin Plummer ripped a triple. Kents Hill left 11 baserunners.
Lisbon 17, Carrabec 8
LISBON – Krystal Doughty rapped out a pair of doubles and a triple to lead Lisbon to a 17-8 MVC win over Carrabec in softball action Friday afternoon.
Jen Hogan gained her first win of the season with a complete game effort.
The Cobras were paced by Cassie Reed, who had a double and triple in the loss.
Lacrosse
Lewiston 14, Scarborough 8
LEWISTON – Gen Lysen scored four goals to lead Lewiston to a 14-8 win over Scarborough in girls’ lacrosse action Friday.
The Blue Devils (4-4) dominated the contest early, scoring eight goals in the first half for an 8-3 lead at intermission. Deneiges Labbe had a hat trick, while Marina MacDonald and Kelsey Varney chipped in with a pair of goals apiece.
The Red Storm (3-5) played a bit more even in the second half with five to Lewiston’s six goals. Katilyn Pettengill was the chief scorer for the Red Storm with four in the nets.
Hebron 10, Kents Hill 3
HEBRON – Shannon Kearney had a hat trick as Hebron downed Kents Hill 10-3.
Laura Meyer and Rachel Sukeforth contributed a pair of goals each for Hebron. Scottie Helm made 12 saves on 15 shots in the winning effort.
The Kents Hill offense was led by Liz Mehr with two goals.
