NORWAY – Selectmen awarded a contract for more than $500,000 to a Naples company to work on the water and sewer lines on the Lake Road this summer.
P & K Sand and Gravel gave the lowest of four bids at $538,945.
Town Manager David Holt said he expects the work to start within the next three weeks.
The project stretches from the bridge over the Pennesseewassee Stream to just before Boomer’s restaurant.
The work on water and sewer lines would be done in conjunction with the Department of Transportation’s repaving of the Lake Road. This project starts at the intersection of Route 117 and Route 118, continues to and down Main Street in Norway and then turns left on Paris Street to the light at the intersection of Route 26.
Holt said he expected the water and sewer work would be finished by the beginning of August and that all work could be done by the end of September.
He said the town has a grant of about $200,000 from rural development and a $400,000 Community Development Block Grant for this project and work on Beal Street.
The Beal Street project consists of sewer and water line work, repaving, installing sidewalks and possibly bike paths.
Holt said he expected part of the Beal Street work to be done in 2003 and part in 2004.
